(Kuala Lumpur, 8th) Based on the latest update from Bank Negara Malaysia, the country’s foreign reserves stood at USD 116.2 billion (approximately RM 522.6 billion) as of December 31, 2024. This marks an increase of USD 2.7 billion (around RM 12.2 billion) compared to USD 113.5 billion (approximately RM 510.4 billion) recorded on December 29, 2023.
The central bank highlighted that the reserves are adequate to cover 5 months of import expenses and provide full coverage for short-term external debts.
