Millions of GTA fans eagerly awaiting the release of GTA 6 have been swept up in speculation following predictions of a delay until 2026. However, a Rockstar Games senior executive has cast doubt on these claims, reaffirming that the highly anticipated title is still on track for release later this year.
Since announcing plans for GTA 6 to launch in fall 2025 and unveiling its first official trailer on December 4, 2023, Rockstar has remained tight-lipped about the game. This prolonged silence has left fans hungry for new details, fueling frustration and endless rumors.
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier recently stirred the pot by stating, “I expect it to be delayed until 2026.” This remark added fuel to the fire of delay rumors. But within 24 hours, a Rockstar senior HR executive countered these claims, hinting that the game’s development timeline is still on schedule.
Rockstar Employee Suggests GTA 6 Is Still on Track
On January 3, 2025, Rockstar’s Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, Georgio Jankowski, shared a New Year’s update on LinkedIn, indicating that the game remains on schedule for a 2025 launch.
“2025 is shaping up to be Rockstar’s most exciting year yet. If you’ve ever thought about joining our team, now is the perfect time to explore open positions,” Jankowski wrote. The post also featured the familiar GTA 6 promo image with the tagline, “Coming 2025.”
The post quickly gained traction on social media, sparking debates among fans. Many celebrated the news, with one user posting, “GTA 6 isn’t delayed—we won!” Another added, “This is exactly what we needed to hear.”
Others, however, remained skeptical. “If this is Rockstar’s idea of an update or promotional effort, it feels tone-deaf and disappointing,” one fan commented.
Fan Reactions: Hopeful or Hesitant?
While the LinkedIn post eased concerns for some, others pointed out that it’s far from conclusive proof. One user cautioned, “There’s still nearly a year to go until the planned release. Delays could happen anytime. Let’s wait and see.”
Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed any changes to GTA 6’s release schedule, and these rumors remain speculative at best. In fact, just days before these reports surfaced, projections estimated that GTA 6 would shatter revenue records, potentially generating over $1 billion in pre-orders alone and exceeding $3 billion in sales within its first year.
